How is Sapience Med different from a cloud AI scribe?

Sapience Med is not an AI scribe. It is offline medical dictation: speech recognition runs 100% on your laptop, with no audio, transcript, or PHI ever leaving your device.

What you get back

Finish the note between sessions, not after dinner.

Hold a key, say the note while the session is still fresh, and the text lands in your EHR. The note gets done in the gap between clients instead of piling up for the evening.

Frequently asked questions

Questions clinicians actually ask.

Is Sapience Med HIPAA compliant?
Sapience Med runs 100% on your device. Audio, transcripts, and patient content never leave your laptop. Because we never receive PHI, Sapience Systems LLP is not a HIPAA Business Associate — there is no BAA needed because there is no Business Associate in the loop.
Does Sapience Med work with Epic, SimplePractice, or TherapyNotes?
Yes. Sapience Med types into any focused text field on Mac or Windows — including SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, Sessions Health, Athena, Epic, Apple Notes, Microsoft Word, Gmail, and Google Docs. No EHR integration is required.
Does Sapience Med use ChatGPT or send my audio to the cloud?
No. Sapience Med uses on-device speech recognition. There is no cloud audio, no AI summaries, no server-side transcription, and no audit trail of patient sessions. The app does not record sessions and does not generate clinical content on your behalf.
How accurate is medical dictation for psychiatric notes?
Sapience Med ships with a built-in vocabulary of 2,500+ medications, so commonly misheard psychiatric drugs like Wellbutrin, lamotrigine and Vraylar come out spelled correctly. You can add your own words and shortcuts for anything it doesn't know yet. The 14-day trial is the best way to check it against how you actually talk.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The trial lasts 14 days and needs no credit card. Download for Mac or Windows, enter your email in the app to start the trial, and use every feature.
How much does Sapience Med cost?
Sapience Med costs $149 once for a lifetime license on one computer (Mac or Windows), with updates included. There is no subscription.
What computer do I need to run Sapience Med?
Sapience Med runs on any Mac with Apple chip (M1, M2, M3, or M4) on macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, and on any modern PC running Windows 10 or 11 built in 2018 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
How fast does dictation appear?
Dictated text appears in about one second on modern hardware. There is no upload step because nothing leaves your laptop.
